Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrival in Kathmandu – the capital of Nepal, a country of ancient culture, unique monuments, and rare beauty of nature. Meeting at the airport with our representatives and transfer to the hotel. After checking into the hotel, the guide will tell you about the upcoming tour and additional options. The most interesting historical area is located in the Kathmandu Valley, where many generations of kings built their capitals. Here is the city of Kathmandu itself and its neighbors Patan and Bhaktapur, little changed since the Middle Ages.
After a short rest, an excursion to the ancient Hindu temple complex
Pashupatinath – A place of cremation of Hindus. Here you can see a magnificent temple of Shiva and many sadhus – wandering saints, in strange outfits with tangled, long hair. In the evening we will see the grandiose Buddhist stupa Boudhanath (5th century). One of the largest stupas in the world, and the most revered Hindu shrine in Nepal. Near the stupa, there are many Buddhist monasteries and temples that can be visited during worship and to see the rituals of worship of Buddha. Prayers and the constantly spinning prayer wheel – the eternal movement of the physical and spiritual… In the evening, for those who wish, dinner at the Bhojan Ghriha restaurant with a program of Nepalese music and dance. Paid additionally. Accommodation at the hotel with breakfast.
Day 2: Bhaktapur – Kathmandu.
After breakfast, a trip to the medieval city of Bhaktapur – the ancient capital of Nepal, which has almost completely preserved its original appearance from the 9th century, an open-air museum, a city of jewelers, artists, and potters, filled with temples, monuments of ancient architecture, museums. Nyatapola deserves special attention – one of the largest and most beautiful pagodas, built in honor of the goddess Vajrayotini. By the way, pagodas were invented in Nepal (in the 13th century – by the architect Arniko), and only then did they spread to neighboring countries. Everywhere – an abundance of sculptures, temples with scenes of an erotic nature. After lunch, drive to the grandiose stupa of Swayambhunath, one of the world-famous Buddhist religious sites. Swayambhunath is the oldest stupa, built on the trade route from India to Tibet about 2,000 years ago, on the four sides of which are depicted the all-seeing eyes of Buddha. Swayambhunath is located on a hill, to the top of which a staircase of 365 steps leads, and from above a panorama of the entire city of Kathmandu opens up. A place with very strong energy. It is believed that this mountain was revered as sacred even before Buddhism came to the valley. Shamans and priests have performed their rituals here for centuries. Accommodation at the hotel with breakfast.
